The scanner
Running the scanner
What the player downloads, what it needs, and what they see.
The scanner is a small Windows program the flagged player runs on their own PC. It reads what FiveM loaded, uploads one report to your dashboard and exits.
Requirements
| Operating system | Windows 10 or 11 |
|---|---|
| FiveM | Open while the scan runs |
| Install | None. It runs, exits and leaves nothing installed. |
| Server side | Nothing. There is no resource to add to your server. |
| Current version | 1.8.2 |
What the player does
-
Download the scanner
From the link your staff send them. Only ever from Trace or your staff, never a re-upload.
-
Run it with FiveM open
The scanner reads the processes and files attached to FiveM, so the game has to be running.
-
Wait for it to finish
It shows its progress and closes when the report has been uploaded. Nothing stays installed.
If antivirus flags it
Some antivirus tools flag any process that reads another process's module list. The scanner is code-signed and its SHA-256 can be checked. See Verifying the scanner.
Can a cheat evade it?
In principle, yes, and Trace doesn't claim otherwise. The scanner is rebuilt on a schedule and signatures update daily. A clean report is evidence, not proof: use it alongside staff judgement.
